DEACONS MINISTRY

Scripture

"And in those days, when the number of the disciples was multiplied, there arose a murmuring of the Grecians against the

Hebrews, because their widows were neglected in the daily ministration. Then the twelve called the multitude of the disciples

unto them, and said, it is not reason that we should leave the word of God, and serve tables. Wherefore, brethren, look ye out

among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business." Acts 6:1-

Mission/Purpose

The mission of the New Rising Sun Baptist Church Board of Deacons is to serve the church and its members and to assist the

Pastor in the welfare of the business of the church.

In the absence of the Pastor it becomes the duty of the Deacons to provide Spiritual leadership, supply the pulpit, and

administer the affairs of the church body.

Other responsibilities include visitation of the sick and shut-in members, caring for the needy and distressed, overseeing the

needs of various ministries from an advisory perspective, to help promote the Sunday Worship Services, Bible Study and any

other church functions.

Deacons also ensure that the by-laws of the church are being followed from a Spiritual and business perspective.

The Deacon Ministry has the following goals:

1) To be better helpers in the vineyard

2) To be more faithful and devout Christian men

3) To be leaders of honest report, filled with the Holy Spirit

4) To be ready to serve and witness for Christ
